The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Utilization of Dental Services in Mukdahan Province

Dental services are a high-risk activity during the Coronavirus Disease 2019 or COVID-19 pandemic.This study was a cross-sectional descriptive for examine the impact of COVID-19 pandemic in the government dental clinics in Mukdahan province. Data were collected using questionnaires. Dental clinic that is a government service facility. The sample participants were 113 dental professionals. Descriptive statistics was analyzed. The results showed that about 51.3% of participants informed the overall impacts were in high level during the COVID-19 outbreak.Operation procedure in dental clinics became more difficult such as having to history taking and screening patients.The number of patients decreased 5%. The dental clinic expenses were increased. The patients had to suck and gargle with the antiseptic before treatment.More,the dental professional had to use more personal protective equipment. They had increased stress from work. They were concerned about the infection of COVID-19 from the patients.Some dental services had to stop providing services. Due to COVID-19 pandemic,it reduced income of the dental professionals. Conclusion; the COVID-19 pandemic, it had a huge impact on the services in dental clinic.The dental personnel must be ready to cope with the pandemic,by network partners from the relevant authorities to develop better standardized services.
