Health Problems and Evidence - Based Priority Setting Lumphun Province

Abstract

The objectives of this study were to make priority of health problems in Lamphun Province. The data were analyzed by using data base of size and crisis level of health problems considered from morbidity rate, mortality rate, impact of caring , year of life lost (YLL) and relative weight (RW). The results demonstrated that highest of mortality rate was lung cancer (33.2/100,000), chronic renal

failure (29.2/100,000), and cerebro-vascular diseases (19.8/100,000). From the data report of In Patient Ward (IPD) and sick rate demonstrated highest sick rate was gastroenteritis (488.2/100,000), pneumonia (403.7/100,000), and anemia (386.9/100,000). From the calculating of diagnosis related group (DRG) it was found that highest relative weight was pneumonia RW = 2,425.2, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease RW=1,726.7 and congestive heart failure RW=1,154.3. While the disease of year of life lost was chronic renal failure (1,593.9 YLL), lung cancer (1,577.7 YLL) and cerebro vascular diseases (1,531.5 YLL). The study found highest health problem of Lamphun province were pneumonia (sum=16), chronic renal failure (sum=14),and lung cancer (sum=13) respectively. The results of this study inform the health staffs the important and crisis situation of health problems in Lamphun Province. The priority setting of health problems should be conducted continuously for making plan and monitoring of the system to solve health problems.
