The investigation involving an accident of a Phitsanulok-Masesod bus turnover Into a ditch along Asia highway , Kongkrailas District Sukhothai Province, on 3 February, 2012.

Abstract

The study of the investigation report involving an accident of a Phitsanulok-Masesod bus turned over into a ditch along Asia highway near Tumbon Bannmaisukkasem, Kongkrailas District Sukhothai Province on February 3, 2012 . The purpose of this descriptive study was to study quantitative epidemiology of injuries,casualties, causes and factors for accidents and to provide directions to prevent injuries and casualties. The study involved evaluation of total 18 client , including investigation, autopsy reports, interviews of doctors and nurses,

police officers, patients and relatives, scene investigation and use of injury report by Bureau of epidemiology.

Data was analysed by using descriptive statistics. This study revealed that the death 5 persons and the injured 13

persons. (6 persons were seriously injured, 1 person was moderate injured and 6 persons were slightly injured).

Factors leading to the accident included driving recklessly, over passengers exceeding the legal limit and

speeding. The bus was travelling at a speed exceeding the legal limit so, the driver was not able to control the bus

when one of the tires exploded, causing the bus to turn over into a ditch. Passengers did not wearing seat belts

and bald tires were also causes of this accident.
