Factor associated Acute Lower Respiratory Infection in children in Community Hospital
Main Article Content
Abstract
This case control research aims to study the factors related to Acute Lower Respiratory Infection among the children who are less than five years old in community hospitals. Data were collected from each hospital registration unit while the children below 5 years and their caregiver who received Namom hospital service from 1st January 2019 to 30th September 2019 were interviewed. The sample groups were divided into an experimental 88 children with Acute lower respiratory infection and a control group of 90 children who visited the hospital for other treatments. The descriptive statistics – frequency distribution, percentages – was used to analyze the data. The analysis focused on comparing the relationship between the children’s and their caregiver information to the children’s acute lower respiratory infection by using chi squared, odds ratio 95% confidence interval. Based on the research, it was found that the children who were less than four years old more highly risked to the infection than the ones who were four years and up (P<.05). The children who had asthma had more risk to the infection (OR = 14.8, 95% CI = 5.01 – 44.2). In terms of the factor from the guardians, it was found that the children who lived with the family of smokers risked to the infection more that the children who lived with the family of non-smokers (OR= 3.263, 95% CI = 0.93 – 3.24)
