Factors Affecting Accessibility of Health Care Services among People with Disabilities in the Areas of Kham Pia Sub-District, Pho Chai District, Roi-Et Province under the Situation of Coronavirus 2019 Pandemic

Abstract

The coronavirus disease 2019 outbreak is a global pandemic that has affected all populations, especially people with disabilities (PWD). This may be due to limitations in disability that cause difficulties in accessing to health care services. This descriptive research was to identify the factors affecting accessibility of health care services among the disabled under the pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 based on the theory of access by Penchansky and Thomas. The samples of the study consisted of 99 persons with visual disabilities and persons with physical disabilities collected from all population units. The data was collected by the questionnaires and analyzed by descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and SD and Multiple linear regression was used to compare the results and factors affecting. The study found that most of the participants were male 54.55%, average of 62.10 years, married 45.45%, Buddhist 100%, elements school education 81.82%, Unemployed 62.60% and having physical disability 73.74%, the average duration of disability was 21.83 years. 51.52% had underlying disease and 53.54% had not received the vaccine against COVID-19. Factors Affecting Access to Health Services of People with Disabilities in the Areas of Kham Pia Sub-District were Infected COVID-19 ( = 0.29), had underlying disease ( = 0.17), unemployed ( = -0.26), and aware of health insurance ( = -0.05) as having significant political significance. Statistics at the 0.05 level. From the findings of this research, it will serve as foundational information for planning health service access programs for people with disabilities under future epidemic situations.
