Social Support for Family of Children with Cancer in the Information Society

Cancer in children is an ongoing disease with a higher tendency of multiple side effects, and it can result in the death of the children. This causes a huge impact on families as the main patients’ caregivers in terms of physical, physiological, emotional, social, and economic conditions. Thus, the social support from the health care providers including nurses is considered as the vital importance to maintain the life quality of such family members. Moreover, the current trend of social supports, especially information support, is dramatically changed. And this advancement brought more communication channels such as the Internet systems which are highly effective, faster, affordable, and accessible. For these reasons, this article aims to illustrate the nurses’ roles as a social supporter for families of children with cancer in this technological era.
