The premise of this study is that strengthening elderly resilience across the three core components (I am, I have, and I can) enables them to adapt to changes, live happily, reduce stress, and improve overall quality of life. This quasi-experimental study employed a two-group pretest-posttest design among older adults attending elderly clubs in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Thailand. The experimental group consisted of older adults from the Ban Don Tanod Elderly Club (n=56). The control group consisted of older adults from the Karaked Elderly Club (n=56). The intervention was the Resilience Enhancement Program for older adults, comprising 10 sessions, each lasting 120 minutes, over a period of 5 weeks. We measured scores of resilience, stress, happiness, and quality of life among elderly participants using the following tools: 1) Resilience Assessment Tool, 2) Stress Assessment Tool (SPST-20), 3) Thai Happiness Indicators, and 4) WHO Quality of Life-Older Adults (WHOQOL-OLD-TH). The Cronbach's Alpha coefficients for the reliability of these instruments were .83 .85 .83 and .87 respectively. Data were analyzed using paired sample t-tests and analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). The results indicated that the mean scores of resilience, happiness, and quality of life among the elderly in the experimental group were statistically significantly higher than those before the experiment and higher than those in the control group (p<0.001). Conversely, the mean stress score of the experimental group after the experiment was statistically significantly lower than both its baseline score and that of the control group (p<0.001). Therefore, our study demonstrated that the elderly resilience enhancement program was effective in enabling older adults to better cope with stress, achieve happiness, and obtain a good quality of life. Similar organizations assisting seniors can use this program as a guide to enhance resilience in other elderly clubs.
