Thyroid hormone is essential for normal brain development; childrenwere born with congenital hypothyroidism that lack thyroid hormoneduring a period of early development are at risk of brain damage andmental retardation. Early detection of congenital hypothyroidism byneonatal screening and appropriate treatment improves neurologicaldevelopmental outcomes for affected children. Congenital hypothyroidism (CH) when detect early can prevent mental retardation by detection of Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) and Thyroxine (T J. The screening was done between 2000 and 2008 which 38162 specimens were collected from heel-prick blood on filtered paper. The cut off value for sample Recall was > 25 mU /L for primary TSH screening, the recall rate was 83 cases. There are 6 cases to be diagnosed to CH.Therefore, the incidence of CH was 1: 6360
