บทคัดย่อ
เมื่อเกิดการติดเชื้อในคลองรากฟัน ซึ่งมีสาเหตุจากการเกิดฟันผุ หรือฟันได้รับอุบัติเหตุ ส่งผลให้เกิดการอักเสบบริเวณปลายรากฟัน และอาจเกิดการติดเชื้อแบบแพร่กระจาย ผู้ป่วยอาจจำเป็นต้องได้รับยาปฏิชีวนะเพื่อป้องกันและความคุมการติดเชื้อ โดยปัจจุบันการดื้อยาของเชื้อแบคทีเรียเป็นปัญหาสำคัญที่พบในวงการแพทย์ เมื่อมีการจ่ายยาปฏิชีวนะเพื่อฆ่าเชื้อแบคทีเรียกลุ่มหนึ่ง จะส่งผลต่อระบบนิเวศน์ของเชื้อชนิดอื่นในร่างกาย ดังนั้นการจ่ายยาปฏิชีวนะทุกครั้งควรคำนึงถึงข้อบ่งชี้ที่ชัดเจนของการรักษา นอกจากนี้อาการปวดฟันยังเป็นอาการสำคัญที่นำผู้ป่วยมาพบทันตแพทย์ การให้ยาระงับอาการปวด และยาคลายกังวลจะช่วยให้ทันตแพทย์สามารถบำบัดอาการเจ็บปวด และความวิตกกังวลของผู้ป่วยได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ รวมถึงการจัดการกับผู้ป่วยโรคทางระบบ ซึ่งพบว่าผู้ป่วยมักจะมีปัญหาสุขภาพเรื้อรัง และรับประทานยาหลายชนิด การประเมินความพร้อมด้านสุขภาพ และสภาพอาการปัจจุบัน รวมถึงตัวยาที่ได้รับ จะช่วยให้ทันตแพทย์สามารถประเมิน และให้การรักษาได้อย่างเหมาะสม บทความนี้ได้ทำการทบทวนเกี่ยวกับหลักในการเลือกใช้ยาปฏิชีวนะ การให้ยาระงับอาการปวด ยาคลายกังวล ผลข้างเคียงของยา ขนาดยาที่ผู้ป่วยควรได้รับ และการจัดการผู้ป่วยที่มีโรคทางระบบก่อนให้การรักษาทางเอ็นโดดอนติกส์
