ภาวะแทรกซ้อนในผู้สูงอายุภายหลังการผ่าตัดกระดูกสันหลังพบได้บ่อยจากภาวะสุขภาพที่ทรุดโทรม การทำหน้าที่ของ อวัยวะต่าง ๆ ในร่างกายลดลงจากการใช้งานมาเป็นเวลานาน ทำให้ผู้สูงอายุเป็นบุคคลที่เสี่ยงต่อการเกิดปัญหาทั้งร่างกายและจิตใจ บทความนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อนำเสนอเรื่องความปลอดภัยในการดูแลผู้สูงอายุที่ได้รับการผ่าตัดกระดูกสันหลังส่วนเอวในมิติด้านการ รักษาพยาบาลเพื่อป้องกันภาวะแทรกซ้อน ซึ่งมีแนวคิดทฤษฎีที่เกี่ยวข้องกับปัจจัยที่มีผลต่อการเกิดภาวะแทรกซ้อนหลังผ่าตัดในผู้ สูงอายุ ภาวะแทรกซ้อนที่พบได้บ่อยและการวางแผนฟื้นฟูสภาพผู้ป่วยภายหลังการผ่าตัด ในรูปแบบกรณีศึกษาและข้อวินิจฉัยการ พยาบาล เพื่อให้การดูแลผู้สูงอายุหลังผ่าตัดกระดูกสันหลังอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ โดยยึดหลักการพยาบาลผู้ป่วยให้ครอบคลุมทั้งด้าน ร่างกาย จิตใจ อารมณ์ สังคม
