Abstract

This research is a quasi-experimental research design using a one-group pre-posttest model to study the outcomes of an information program for patients undergoing robot-assisted surgery for renal tumors. The program’s effects were assessed on knowledge, skills, anxiety, and pain. The statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS 30 program (Licensed Mahidol University), employing descriptive statistics, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, the Friedman test, and the Paired t-test. The research findings revealed the following: The mean knowledge score of the sample group was significantly higher after receiving the program (M=21.24,SD=6.14) compared to before the program (M=13.24,SD=5.34). The mean score for wound cleaning skills was lower at the first measurement after the program (M=8.80,SD=1.35) than at the second measurement (M=10.84,SD=0.43). The mean anxiety score before receiving the program (M=6.64,SD=1.52) was significantly higher than the score after receiving the program (M=2.28,SD=1.17).Post-operative pain scores were highest at 24 hours (M=6.16, SD=2.08) and lowest at 72 hours (M=2.16, SD=1.41), with statistical significance at the .01 level. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of the program in increasing knowledge and wound cleaning skills, reducing anxiety, and managing pain.
