Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study (1) the happiness levels of personnel working in a Royal Thai Army Field Hospital in the three southern border provinces’ high-risk areas; (2) factors related to the happiness levels of personnel working in the Army Field Hospital in the southern border provinces; and (3) a comparison of happiness levels between civilian and military personnel working in the Army Field Hospital in the southern border provinces.
The population consisted of all personnel working in an Army Field Hospital in the southern border provinces, both civilians and soldiers, totaling 150 individuals. Data were collected from the entire population. Questionnaires were used as the measurement tool in this study, with content validity assessed by the IOC (item values ranging from 0.67 to 1.00) and a reliability of 0.88. Frequency distribution, mean, percentage, standard deviation, and a chi-square test with odds ratio were used to analyze differences between two independent groups.
The results showed that (1) the happiness levels of both civilian and military personnel working in the Army Field Hospital were similar to those of the general population. (2) Personal factors were sex and welfare, which were related to levels of happiness for both civilians and soldiers. (3) There was no statistically significant difference in happiness levels between civilian and military personnel working in the Army Field Hospital at the 0.05 level.
