Keywords:

This research employed a quasi-experimental design with two groups to examine the effects of a program designed to promote rational Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) NSAIDs use on both knowledge and medication use behaviors among 70 elderly participants with musculoskeletal disorders. The sample group was selected based on predetermined eligibility criteria in the order of registration, using a questionnaire consisting of two parts: the evaluate rational NSAIDs use behavior. Statistical analyses included Paired t-test, Independent Samples test, Wilcoxon Pairs Signed-Ranks Test and Mann-Whitney tests. Results showed that mean knowledge scores and rational NSAIDs use behavior scores in the experimental group were significantly higher post-intervention compared to pre-intervention (p<.001) and significantly higher than the control group (p<.001). The program promoting rational NSAIDs use literacy effectively enhanced both knowledge and medication use behaviors among elderly participants. To facilitate sustainable medication use behavioral change, continuous implementation of activities promoting NSAIDs use literacy among the elderly is recommended.
