First-year nursing students are teenagers who adjust to new friends, stress, and pressure from studying, which can affect their mental health. Enhancing emotional quotients fosters appropriate decision-making and effective problem-solving skills, while increasing motivation for learning at higher academic levels, ultimately contributing to the development of professional nurses who embody goodness, competence, and well-being.
This research was quasi-experimental research design. The objective was to study mindfulness’s effect on nursing students’ emotional quotient. The sample group consisted of 46 first-year nursing students in the academic year 2024, with 23 in the experimental group and 23 in the control group. The experimental group received the mindfulness program. The control group received everyday teaching. The data collection tools were the emotional quotient assessment, emotional quotient and mindfulness program. Mindfulness program: data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, chi-square statistics, and t-test. The results of the research found that the experimental group had a mean emotional quotient score after the experiment that was significantly higher than before the experiment at a statistical level of .01 (t = 5.07), and the experimental group had a mean emotional quotient score after the experiment that was significantly higher than the control group at a statistical level of .01 (t = 3.26). This study can be applied to nursing students in their second, third, and fourth years to effectively enhance emotional quotients and promote mental well-being.
