Abstract

This quasi-experimental study aimed to compare the mean of health literacy scores for pregnancy prevention among lower secondary school female students, both within and between the experimental and comparison groups. The sample consisted of 31 participants in each group. Data were collected using a questionnaire on health literacy for pregnancy prevention among lower secondary school female students, in conjunction with the “Triple P” board game program (Prevention, Promotion, and Protection) designed to enhance knowledge and health literacy for pregnancy prevention. Descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, were used for data analysis. Within-group mean scores were compared using the paired sample t-test, while between-group mean scores were compared using the independent t-test. The results revealed that, after the intervention, the mean health literacy score within the experimental group was significantly higher than before the intervention (p-value < .001). Furthermore, the mean health literacy score of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the comparison group after the intervention (p-value < .001). In conclusion, the “Triple P” board game program (Prevention, Promotion, and Protection) was effective in improving health literacy for pregnancy prevention among lower secondary school female students. Additionally, the board game program can be applied to develop health literacy in other areas, such as substance abuse prevention and traffic accident prevention.
