Guideline to Best Practice of E-Learning Management System in Bachelor of Nursing Science Program of Private Institution

Abstract

 This research was aimed to establish a guideline for best practice of e-learning management by exploring a mixed-method approach through a sequential explanatory design based on the PIE Model. The unit of analysis consisted of six private nursing institutions accredited with the highest level of institutional management by the Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council for five years. All participants were selected using purposive sampling. The research instruments included the questionnaire on the implementation of e-learning management based on the PIE Model, comprising seven factors: 1) e-learning management system, 2) technology and infrastructure, 3) course design, 4) instructors, 5) learners, 6) instruction, and 7) evaluation. And a content validity of 0.95 and a reliability coefficient of 0.98, while the interview had a content validity of 0.95. Quantitative data were collected via an online questionnaire and analyzed with descriptive statistics, whereas qualitative data were gathered through interviews and analyzed using content analysis. The results revealed that 1) The current state of e-learning management was high (equation = 4.34, SD = 0.58). 2) The administrators needed to select the guideline at every step of the e-learning management system through the PIE Model, wherever applicable from the analyses for planning, implementation, and evaluation for improvement. 3) The proposed guidelines were certified by nine experts at the highest level, with interquartile ranges for every item and component ≤ 1.50. Therefore, the developed best practice guidelines were accepted. Consequently, nursing education institutions are advised to integrate all seven components with PIE Model to elevate e-learning management in the digital era.
