The Effectiveness of an Empowerment Program for Parents on Knowledge and Behaviors for Early Childhood Developmental Promotion

The purpose of this research was to study the effectiveness of early childhood parent empowerment program on knowledge and behaviors of early childhood developmental promotion. The research was a quasi-experimental study with two groups measuring outcomes before and after the experiment. The sample group consisted of early childhood parent aged 3 - 5 years, totaling 56 participants. They were divided into experimental groups of 28 participants and a comparison groups of 28 participants, which were specifically selected according to specified criteria. The program used in the research consists of Empowerment Program There are 5 activities being carried out: 1) Knowing the situation 2) Practicing expertise to increase confidence. Exchange knowledge from real experiences 3) My beloved child’s care schedule 4) Build confidence Manage to maintain 5) Evaluate and follow up for a period of 8 weeks. Data were collected using a knowledge questionnaire about promoting early childhood development and a behavior questionnaire for promoting early childhood development. The instruments had reliability scores of 0.77 and 0.84, respectively. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and reference statistics, including the Independent test and Pair t-test.
The results of the experiment showed that the experimental group had a higher mean knowledge score than before receiving the program and a higher mean behavior score for promoting early childhood development than before receiving the program with statistical significance (p < .001) and the experimental group had a mean knowledge score and the mean scores on behaviors promoting early childhood development Statistically significantly higher than the comparison group (p < .001).
The results of this research can be used as a guideline for empowering parents of early childhood to further promote early childhood development.
