Active Learning for New Generation Nursing Students: Achieving Competencies for Newly Graduated Nurses

Abstract

The digital system is now a fully integrated component of society in all respects. Since it enables students to take initiative and reflect on their experiences, modifying the way active learning is organized for the new generation nursing students is a crucial component of the learning process. It’s learning that enables them to think, act, and solve problems by bringing the community together to organize learning activities that use the community as a foundation for developing health promotion projects, giving students the chance to come up with new ideas for resolving health issues in the community, encouraging social skills, communication, and teamwork, and establishing links between the community and students’ learning that result in knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are comprehensive in accordance with the course’s learning outcomes. The aim of  this academic article is to introduce active learning management to the new generation nursing students by combining two nursing courses that use the community as a learning base as a large classroom to develop students’ academic, professional, and life skills as well as active learning. This will produce newly graduated nurses who are competent in the transitional phase from nursing students to professional nurses, meeting the expectations of employers in healthcare providers.
