Abstract

This quasi-experimental research aimed to compare the mean scores of executive function skills between the control and experimental groups of early childhood students and to study the satisfaction towards the Brain Training Box Innovation: Executive Function Challenge. The sample consisted of caregivers and early childhood students (aged 3-5 years) studying at Child Development Centers in Phetchaburi Province, divided into an experimental group (n=25) and a control group (n=25). The research instruments comprised: 1) a demographic questionnaire, and the Executive Function Development Assessment (MU.EF-101), 2) an executive function skills test for early childhood students, and 4) a satisfaction assessment form. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and t-test.
The results showed that 1) after the experiment, the experimental group had significantly higher mean scores of executive function skills than the control group and their pre-test scores (t = 2.513, p < .01), and 2) significantly higher mean scores on the executive function development assessment than the control group and their pre-test scores (t = 5.068, p < .01), 3) Regarding satisfaction, caregivers and parents reported high satisfaction with the innovation (M = 4.15, SD = 0.37) Research recommendations suggest that Child Development Centers should implement the Brain Training Box Innovation to develop executive function skills in early childhood students, parents can use this innovation for executive function skills training at home, and training should be provided to teachers and caregivers on the effective use of this innovation.
