A Study of Nursing Outcome Indicators for Patients with Fracture Pelvis and Acetabulum

This research is a descriptive study using the Delphi technique, aimed at study outcomes indicators for nursing care of patients with fracture pelvis and acetabulum. A purposive sample of 20 experts with knowledge and experience in nursing care for patients with fracture pelvis and acetabulum, divided into 7 Orthopedic nurses, 5 Nursing instructor and academic group, 5 Nursing administrators and 3 fracture pelvis and acetabulum specialist doctor. Research methodology, The first interview about outcome indicators for patient with fracture pelvis and acetabulum. The second, data from the first were analyzed and indicators were developed by using rating scale questionnaires. The third, data were analyzed by using median and interquartile range which was sent to previous experts for confirm the previous ranks items. Data were analyzed again by using median and interquartile range to summarize the research.
The research results: showed the nursing outcomes indicators for patients with fracture pelvis and acetabulum were agreed by experts including 7 domains, 47 indicators: 1) safety from complication of external fixator and skeletal traction, 2) safety from complication of injuries and immobility, 3) the responses of mental, social, and spiritual, 4) safety from post-surgery complication, 5) the ability for rehabilitation of patient 6) patient and/or family satisfaction with nursing services, and 7) the ability to perform activity of daily living upon discharge. The results of this study can be used as a measurement of nursing outcomes indicators for pelvis and acetabulum fracture patients care.
