The study of anxiety among Students of Underwater Medicine Naval Medical Department

The purpose of this Explanatory Sequential Design was to study the anxiety levels of students in the Underwater Medical Technician curriculum of the Royal Thai Navy Medical Department, comprising 25 individuals in the academic year 2023. The experimental variables included gender, age, marital status, highest level of education, personal monthly income, sufficiency of income, chronic illnesses, and training emphasizing practical skills aligned with the Underwater Medical Technician curriculum of the Royal Thai Navy Medical Department. The dependent variable was anxiety levels during study. Research tools included a 7-item personal information questionnaire, Spielberger, a State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (1983) consisting of 20 items, and a 3-item open-ended questionnaire on anxiety management. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, percentages, means, standard deviations, correlation analysis using Pearson’s correlation coefficient and analysis of open-ended questionnaires. Focus group discussions were also conducted, with content analysis employed.
Findings revealed that:
1. Underwater Medical Technician students exhibited overall, there was a low level of Anxiety (Mean = 50.46 SD = 1.50), and there were 8 people, who were at the highest level and the lowest level, accounting for 32 percent equally.
2. The highest level of education, income, sufficiency of income, and training emphasizing practical skills were significantly correlated with anxiety moderate levels (P<.05). (0.26
