The Effects of Promote Early Childhood Development Program for Main Caregiver in Jomtong Sub District, Mueang District in Phitsanulok Province

This quasi-experimental research aimed to study the effects of promote early childhood development program for main caregiver in Jomtong subdistrict, Mueang district in Phitsanulok province. The purposive samples consisted of 60 fathers or mothers or main caregivers which divided to 30 experimental group and 30 controlled group. Research instrument was early childhood development program which applied from Erikson’s and Piaget’s theory by exchange experiences and knowledge for experimental group and provide health education for controlled group. Data collected knowledge and behavior of the promote early childhood development by test and questionnaire. The instruments were tested from three experts consist of pediatric nursing, child development and research and evaluation. The reliability of the knowledge tests was .84 (KR20). The Cronbach’s alpha coefficients of behavior questionnaire on early childhood development promoting was .90. Data analysis was descriptive statistic such as frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and variance analysis was t-test independent. The results found statistically significant of difference of knowledge and behavior for promote early childhood development of experimental group who received early childhood development program had higher than controlled group (P<.05).
Conclusion and recommendations: The program increased knowledge and behavior in promoting early childhood development, but have to concerned local context as well.
