The Influence of Organizational Communication and Employee Morale on the Job Performance of Professional Nurses at Public Hospitals in One Province

This study aimed (1) to study the level of organizational communication, employee morale, and job performance of professional nurses at public hospitals in one province and (2) to study the influence of length of work, salary, organizational communication and employee morale on the job performance of professional nurses at public hospitals.
The sample of this descriptive research comprised 188 professional nurses at public hospitals in one province. They were recruited by Multi-stage random sampling method.The research instrument was developed from a questionnaire that studied factors affecting morale3. The questionnaire consists of 4 parts, which have been examined for content validity and Cronbach’s alpha coefficient by 5 experts. Data were analyzed by using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and stepwise multiple regression analysis.
The findings were as follows: (1) Professional nurses rated their organizational communication, employee morale, and job performance at a high level; and (2) the variables of organizational communication and employee morale influenced and statistically predicted job performance of professional nurses, and both of them jointly explained 36.40 percent of the variance in job performance of professional nurses at the .001 level of significance.
