Effect of Strategic Leadership among Nursing Executives and Relationships Among Nursing Team on Safety Cultures in the New Normal Era at Kalasin Hospital

Abstract

The sample of this descriptive research its aimed 1) to investigate the strategic leadership of nursing executives, relationships among nursing team members, and the safety culture in the new normal era at Kalasin Hospital, 2) to investigate the influence of strategic leadership of nursing executives and relationships among nursing team members on safety culture in the new normal era. The sample comprised of 172 registered nurses in the inpatient department of Kalasin Hospital, selection by simple random sampling was applied. The research instruments consisted of the head nurse’s strategic leadership, the relationships among members of the nursing team, and the safety culture in the hospital. The content validity index as examined by five experts were .83, .90, and .93 respectively. The Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficients of questionnaires were .89, .87, and .87 respectively. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and stepwise multiple regression analysis.
The research findings were as follows: 1) the overall strategic leadership of nursing executives was at the highest level, the overall quality of relationships among nursing team members was at verry level, and the overall safety culture in the new normal era at Kalasin Hospital was at a high level; and 2) The strategic leadership of nursing executives and relationships among nursing team members influenced and statistically predicted the variances of safety culture in the new normal era at 75.50 percent at the 0.001 significance level. However, additional studies should be conducted in practice and other variables that affect safety culture in the new way of life era.
