Effects of Pain Management Program and SKT7 Meditation Exercise on Pain and Frequency of Medication Taking among Cancer Patients

The objective of this experimental research was to study the effects of a pain management program (PMP) and SKT7meditation (SKT7) on pain and frequency of pain medication among cancer patients. Sample was patients who had been diagnosed with cancer, cancer patients who met the inclusion criteria, and then randomly divided into three groups, 23 had pain, and were admitted to in-patient ward. Sixty-nine participants were random from people for each group. All 3 groups of pain management were Routine Pain Management (RPM) Together with pain management is Group E1 received SKT7, Group E2 received the PMP, and Group C received only RPM. The research instruments consisted of instruments for data collection and instruments for conducting experiments, including SKT7 meditation practice guideline and pain management program. Data were analyzed using Repeated ANOVA, Friedman test, One-way ANOVA, and Kruskal-Wallis H. The results showed that the E1 and E2 group had a statistically significant pain score (p<.001), the frequency of pain medication taking among was also statistically significantly lower than (p<.05). E1 group had a statistically significant differences between before and after the experiment more than group E2 and C (p<.05) The frequency of pain medication taking among group E1 was also statistically significantly lower than those in group E2 and C (p<.05). Therefore, the SKT7 meditation and pain management program should be applied to reduce pain.
