Factors Affecting Food Consumption Behaviors of Working People in Bangmapraw Health Promotion Hospital, Langsuan District, Chumphon Province

This description research was aimed to study knowledge and attitudes toward food consumption and food consumption behaviors of working people and to study the relationship between knowledge, attitude and consumption behaviors of 300 peoples working in Bangmapraw Health Promotion Hospital, Chumphon Province. The instrument used for collecting data was the questionnaire composed of 4 parts: 1. general data; 2. Knowledge about food consumption; 3. attitudes toward food consumption; and 4. food consumption behaviors. The content validity of the part 2 on knowledge about food consumption was found to be .93 and the reliability was .78, in accordance with KR-20. Regarding parts 3 and 4 of the questionnaire, the content validity was found to be .97 and .98 with the reliability values of .75 and .93, and the reliability of the two sets were .96 and .82 respectively. Data analysis was done by computing frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, and standard deviation. The relationship between variables was done by computing Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation.
The results found that the food consumption knowledge of working people working in Bangmapraw Health Promotion Hospital, Lungsuan District, Chumphon Province was at the high level x̅ = .78, SD = .35, Attitudes toward food consumption was at the moderate x̅ = 2.44, SD = 1.06, and food consumption behaviors was at the moderate level x̅ = 3.34, SD = 1.04. The low and positive significantly relationship between knowledge about food consumption and food consumption behaviors was relationship. Found p < .01, r = .288* and a high and positive relationship between attitudes toward food consumption and food consumption behaviors was found significantly p < .01, r = .620.
