Development of the Military Leadership Attribute Measurement of the Army Nursing Students

Abstract

This research aimed to develop the military leadership measurement of the Army Nursing students which applied the framework from the characteristics of the military leadership of Thai Armed Forces in 15 topics. Seventeen participants were selected by purposive sampling from the former of administrators, nursing instructors who ever worked at the Student Affairs Division and the Alumni who were the commander, company commander, platoon etc. Data were collected by focus group and indepth interview,analyzed by content analysis, and created the attributes and items of measurement. The measurement was examined by three experts for content validity and Cronbach’s Alpha Coefficient was used to analyze the reliability from 35 army nursing students alumnae class 53. Exploratory factor analysis was done in 393 army nursing students.
The results of exploratory factor analysis revealed that the factors and attributes of the military leadership of army nursing students consisted of 6 factors with 31 items. The overall reliability by Cronbach’s coefficient alpha was 0.969. The range of the Eigen values were between 1.195 and 8.760, and the percent of covariance could be explained at 62.323. Therefore, the instrument can apply to evaluate the military leadership of army nursing students and other military nursing students
