Effect of Computer Assisted Instruction on Pediatric Nurses’ Knowledge about Chest Physiotherapy in Children

Abstract

This study was to test the effect of computer assisted instruction on pediatric nurses’ knowledge about chest physiotherapy in children. The samples consisted of 32 registered nurses who had working at pediatric unit in a university hospital, Bangkok. The data were collected by using the general information questionnaire, and the knowledge of physiotherapy in children test. The data were analyzed using Wilcoxon signed ranks test

The findings revealed total score of the knowledge of physiotherapy in children test was 20 points, the median score before using computer assisted instruction of physiotherapy in children was 15 (min = 11, max = 17) and after using this CAI was 17.5 (min = 14, max = 20), the median knowledge score of the effect of computer assisted instruction on pediatric nurses’ knowledge of chest physiotherapy in children was higher than before with statistical significance (p<.01)

The results of the study can be used to review the knowledge of physiotherapy in children for pediatric nurses and can be applied with the right technique of physiotherapy in pediatric patients.
