Effect of Research Based Learning Program on Cognitive Skill of Nursing Students

This research aimed to examine the effect of Research Based Learning on cognitive skill of nursing students.The study used a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 94 nursing students from Srimahasarakham Nursing College in the academic year 2016. The study was conducted between September 2016 to March 2017. The research instruments comprised two types: 1) Research Based Learning Program experimental instrument and 2) Cognitive Skill questionnaires for data collection. Descriptive statistic, paired t-test were used to analyze data. The results showed that the overall cognitive skill score of nursing students before and after participating in the Program were 3.06 (SD = .51) and 3.10 (SD = .45), respectively. The overall cognitive skill score of the nursing students after participating in the Program was significantly higher than before participating in the Program. (t = 4.46, p <.001). The finding indicate that Research Based Learning Program should be used with other courses. It is important to consider the course and objectives of the program.
