Being the Preceptor: The Challenge of Nurse’s Self-Efficacy

Abstract

The Preceptors have essential role for nursing students or novice nurses, they teach practical activities and real experiences to them. However preceptors are still working in the role as professional nurses aswell, so the competencies of professional nurse and competencies of preceptor are requirements for their working. To achieve their goals in 2 aspect duties, preceptors must have self-efficacy and integrated them with those competencies. The balancing of competencies is challenging for preceptor. The main issues in balancing of competencies consisted of 1) personal development 2) interaction between person3) teaching process and 4) management. These issues related to the competencies which preceptors must use in their daily duties. According to these, the working of preceptors is challenging of self-efficacy that must be aware and try to practice.
