Abstract

Problem-based learning is a strategy that can effectively improve learning skills of learners. Therefore, this quasi-experimental research was conducted to develop problem-based learning model in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing subject. Outcomes were problem-solving skills and learning outcomes according to Thai Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (TQF). Samples were 80 third-year nursing students in Boromarajonani College of Nursing Suphanburi. Measures included problem-based learning model, problem-solving skills questionnaire, learning outcome evaluation according to TQF. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and Paired t-test.

The results showed that 1) samples had significantly higher problem-solving skills than before (t = 34.44, p = .000), and 2) learning outcome according to TQF was in very good level (gif.latex?\fn_cm&space;\bar{x} = 4.23, SD = 0.37).

Problem-based learning model should be used in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing subject to enhance problem-solving skillsin nursingstudents.
