Healthcare knowledge and practice of Akha ethnic group : Case study at a Mae-monVillage, TambonHuay-chom-poo, AmphurMuang, Chiang Rai

Abstract

Aim of this cross-sectional study was to survey and explore the correlation between healthcare knowledge and healthcare behaviors of Akha Ethnic Group living in Mae-mon Village, TambonHuay-chom-poo, AmphurMuang, ChiangRai. The sampling was conducted to select 80samples aged between 15-90 years who agreed to participate and were able to communicate. Questionnaires were used as research instruments.Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and Spearman’s Rank Correlation Coefficient. The results were as follows.


Most of the samples were females, 31-45 years of age, married, un-educated, general employee, Christian and had not diseases. Most samples healthcare knowledge was in a moderate level; whereas, more than a half had healthcare behaviors in a good level. Also, there was no significant relationship between healthcare knowledge and healthcare behavior.
