Management of Metabolic Syndrome for Outpatient Nurses

ภาวะเมตาบอลิกซินโดรม (metabolic syndrome) คือ กลุ่มอาการที่เกิดจากการเผาผลาญอาหารของร่างกายผิดปกติ มีสาเหตุมาจากการดื้อต่ออินซูลิน (insulin resistance) และความอ้วน มักพบในผู้ที่มีไขมันหน้าท้องมากหรือที่เรียกว่า ‘อ้วนลงพุง’ (central obesity) ในประเทศไทย ภาวะเมตาบอลิกซินโดรมมีอัตราเพิ่มสูงขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่อง และเป็นปัญหาสุขภาพสำคัญที่นำไปสู่การเกิดโรคความดันโลหิตสูง เบาหวาน ไขมันในเลือดสูง ซึ่งจะส่งผลให้เกิดโรคหัวใจและหลอดเลือดตามมา การจัดการภาวะเมตาบอลิกซินโดรมจึงมีความสำคัญ เพื่อป้องกันการเกิดโรคและภาวะแทรกซ้อนต่าง ๆ ดังกล่าว พยาบาลผู้ป่วยนอกซึ่งมีบทบาทหลักในการสร้างเสริมสุขภาพและการป้องกันโรค จึงควรมีความรู้ความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับสาเหตุและผลกระทบของภาวะเมตาบอลิกซินโดรม แนวทางการตรวจคัดกรอง การประเมินปัจจัยเสี่ยงที่เกี่ยวข้อง เพื่อวางแผนการพยาบาลและส่งเสริมให้ผู้ป่วยมีการดูแลตนเองที่เหมาะสมเกี่ยวกับภาวะเมตาบอลิกซินโดรม รวมทั้งติดตามประเมินผลการปรับเปลี่ยนวิถีชีวิตและการปฏิบัติพฤติกรรมสุขภาพอย่างสม่ำเสมอ นอกจากนี้ ควรมีการจัดการระบบบริการพยาบาลสำหรับผู้ที่มารับการตรวจที่แผนกผู้ป่วยนอก ให้สามารถเข้าถึงการตรวจคัดกรองภาวะเมตาบอลิกซินโดรมร่วมกับการตรวจโรคอื่น ๆ ได้ เพื่อประเมินภาวะเสี่ยงและให้ข้อมูลการป้องกันโรคดังกล่าวอย่างเหมาะสมต่อไป
