Factors Predicting of Nursing Practice in Family-centered Care of Community Nurse Practitioners

This research aimed to study factor predicting on family centered nursing care of nurse practitioners. The samples were 185 registered nurses, who graduated master of nursing science in community nurse practitioner and registered from Thai Nursing Council. Data collection used the questionnaire, which consisted of four parts. The first part asked for demographic data such as sex, age, level of education, and working experience, whereas the second part asked for work motivation. The third part was about perception on role and the competency of nurse practitioner. Finally, the fourth part was family centered nursing care of nurse practitioner .This questionnaire was validated by three experts, whereas the reliability was 0.967 of the Cronbach’s alpha score. The data were analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s production moment correlation coefficient , and multiple regression.
The result showed that approximately sixty percent of the samples were 31 to 40 years old. Ninety-three percent graduated master of nursing science. Their nursing experience in community were less than ten years, which was about 89.2 percent. About sixty-six percent of the participants worked at community hospital & The overall work motivation was high ( = 4.12, SD = 0.26), and the overall of perception on role and competency of nurse practitioner was high as well ( = 4.08, SD = 0.29). The analysis of factor predicting on family centered nursing care of nurse practitioners revealed that perception on role and competency of nurse practitioner, particularly on aspect of care management, were person, group, family and community, health promotion, health prevention, basic medical care and rehabilitation, aspect of collaboration, aspect of empowering, educating, coaching, mentoring and aspect of outcome management and evaluation could predict on family centered nursing care of nurse practitioners at 20.2 percent (r=0.521, p<0.01). For conclusion of this study, nurse administrators or head nurses might apply the predicting factors on family centered nursing care of nurse practitioners to plan for developing and improving nursing practice at their workplace & in order to promote nurse practitioners’ abilities appropriately.
