The Effect of New Normal Self and Family Management Program on Relapse Preventive Behavior of Persons with Schizophrenia in Community.

Abstract
Purpose: To study the effect of the new normal self and family management program on relapse prevention behavior of persons with schizophrenia in community.
Design: Quasi-experimental research.
Method: The sample were persons with schizophrenia in community and his/her family caregiver 42 families who met the inclusion criteria and received service at Psychiatric clinic King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital (TRCS). Divided into the experimental group and the control group, 21 families per group. Research instruments comprised of 1) The new normal self and family management program 2) questionnaire on relapse prevention behaviors of persons with schizophrenia 3) scale on self management ability of persons with schizophrenia and 4) scale on caregiver's self and patient management ability. All instruments were verified for content validity by professional experts. Data were analyze using descriptive statistics and t-test.
Result: Relapse prevention behavior of experimental group after received the new normal self and family management program was significantly better than that before receiving the program at p .05 and Relapse prevention behavior of experimental group was significantly better than control group at p .05
Conclusion: Health workers should adopt the new normal self and family management program to promote relapse prevention behaviors among persons with schizophrenia in community.
