The Role of Geriatric Nurses in Screening for Geriatric Syndromes in the Geriatric Clinic

Abstract
Aging is the end of human life, which has evolved into physiological changes that can result in geriatric syndromes and cause complex and severe health problems, including poor clinical outcomes and effects on older persons' and caregivers' quality of life. Screening for geriatric syndromes was an assessment of the older person's condition covering all critical dimensions: 1) physical, 2) mental and cognitive, 3) environment and society, and 4) functional to identify health problems and sources of benefits that are necessary to plan comprehensive care according to the needs and health conditions of the older persons. Comprehensive screening for geriatric syndromes in the early stages will help prevent and monitor the occurrence of geriatric syndromes effectively. However, in the working context where each day has many service recipients Screening for urgent, life-threatening conditions and providing emergency care first and foremost, Screening for geriatric syndromes needs to be addressed. Geriatric nurses are considered the first line of health personnel in accepting older persons as service recipients. Therefore, it is necessary to know screening guidelines for geriatric syndromes, which are forwarding for maintenance. This article aims to present the role of geriatric nurses in screening for geriatric syndromes in the geriatric clinic. This will lead to the goal of taking care of the health of older persons contributing to a better quality of life.
