Abstract

Objectives: 1) To study nursing outcome indicators in cancer patients, Chulabhorn hospital in each aspect, and 2) to study sub-items in each aspect of nursing outcome indicator in cancer patients, Chulabhorn hospital


Research Design: Descriptive research using the Delphi technique


Methods:  There were three steps: firstly, all 18 selected experts. all experts were asked to describe nursing outcome indicators in cancer patients, Chulabhorn hospital: Secondly, the data gained from the first stage has analyzed the content in order to create a rating scale questionnaire which experts gave some comments on the level of importance of each question: thirdly, expert’s comment was calculated to find median and the interquartile range and then the questionnaire was sent to the experts for confirmation. After that, the data was computed for the median and the interquartile range to summarize the results.


Results: The nursing outcome indicator in cancer patients Chulabhorn hospital were congruent with the experts with 42 items, namely 39 items with the highest level of importance and 3 with the high level of importance. These were classified into six categories as follows: 1) Safety form complications in oncology surgery has 9 sub-items 2) Safety form side effects of chemotherapy has 8 sub-items 3) Safety form Radiation therapy has 6 sub-items 4) Safety form complications in treatment and pathology of the diseases has 8 sub-items 5) Relief form pain has 6 sub-items and 6) The responses of physical, mental, social and spiritual has 5 sub-items.


Conclusion: The results can be applied as a guideline for nursing administrators in determining appropriate nursing outcome indicators in cancer patients, Chulabhorn hospital.
