Selected Factors Influencing Nursing Students’ Ethical Behaviors of Thai Qualifications Framework for Nursing Student in a Private University at Bangkok

Abstract

Purpose: To study selected factors influencing nursing students’ ethical behaviors of Thai Qualifications Framework (TQF) for higher education in a private university at Bangkok. 


Design: Descriptive research


Method: This study used research framework according to Thai Qualifications Framework for higher education. Samples were 120 of the third and fourth year nursing students from Mission Faculty of Nursing, Asia-Pacific International University. Research instruments consisted of personal questionnaire, ethical atmosphere in educational institution questionnaire, ethical behavior of instructor questionnaire, ethical learning and teaching in nursing questionnaire, and TQF moral and ethics behavior questionnaire. The reliabilities of these questionnaires were .91, .92, .88, and .98, respectively. Statistical analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and stepwise multiple regression. 


Finding: The average scores of ethical atmosphere, instructors’ ethical behavior, ethical learning and teaching in nursing, and TQF moral and ethics behavior of nursing students were at high level. The TQF moral and ethics behavior of the third and fourth year nursing student were not difference at statistically significance. Additionally, ethical learning and teaching in nursing and ethical atmosphere accounted for 54.1% of the overall variance in the TQF moral and ethics behavior of the nursing students.   


Conclusion: Administrators and instructors need to arrange both intra-curricular and extra-curricular activities continuously for promoting morality and ethics throughout each year of the curriculum. Subsequently, the students embed ethical behaviors sustainably.
