บทคัดย่อ

ภาวะสมองเสื่อมเป็นปัญหาที่พบบ่อยในผู้สูงอายุและเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่อง ส่งผลกระทบทางด้านร่างกาย จิตใจ พฤติกรรม สังคม เศรษฐกิจ รวมทั้งส่งผลต่อคุณภาพชีวิตของผู้สูงอายุ ปัจจุบันแม้จะมีการรักษาภาวะสมองเสื่อม แต่การรักษาส่วนใหญ่ยังเป็นการรักษาแบบประคับประคองและได้ผลจำกัด การคงไว้ซึ่งความสามารถของผู้สูงอายุจึงเป็นหัวใจสำคัญในการดูแล เพื่อชะลอภาวะสมองเสื่อมของผู้สูงอายุ ดังนั้น พยาบาลควรให้การพยาบาลในการส่งเสริม ป้องกัน รักษา ฟื้นฟู โดยอิงหลักฐานเชิงประจักษ์เพื่อให้ผู้สูงอายุและผู้ดูแลได้รับการดูแลตรงตามความต้องการ บทความนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ส่งเสริมให้พยาบาลมีความรู้ความเข้าใจในการดูแลผู้สูงอายุที่มีภาวะสมองเสื่อม เพื่อการคงไว้ซึ่งความสามารถในการดูแลตนเองตามศักยภาพ ชะลอความเสื่อมตามโรค และช่วยลดการเกิดภาระการดูแลในผู้ดูแลที่ยั่งยืนต่อไป
