สถานการณ์แพร่ระบาดของโรคติดเชื้อไวรัสโคโรนา 2019 มีผลกระทบต่อสุขภาพของประชาชนในทุกเพศทุกวัยโดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในเด็กปฐมวัย เนื่องจากเด็กวัยนี้ต้องการการเรียนรู้ในสิ่งแวดล้อมรอบ ๆ ตัวเพื่อให้มีการเจริญเติบโตและมีพัฒนาการที่สมวัย จากสถานการณ์การระบาดทำให้เด็กต้องมีการปรับเปลี่ยนพฤติกรรมทั้งการเรียน การเล่นและการใช้ชีวิตประจำวัน ตามมาตรการการเว้นระยะห่างทางสังคมเพื่อป้องกันการติดเชื้อ ซึ่งพฤติกรรมที่เปลี่ยนไปนั้นอาจส่งผลต่อภาวะสุขภาพทั้งทางร่างกาย จิตใจ อารมณ์และสังคม และอาจส่งผลต่อ
การเกิดปัญหาทางสุขภาพในอนาคตได้ เช่น ภาวะโรคอ้วน ความเสี่ยงเกิดโรคในกลุ่ม NCDs ปัญหาการนอนหลับ การติดอินเทอร์เน็ต ภาวะซึมเศร้า ปัญหาด้านสมรรถภาพทางกาย และปัญหาด้านการเรียนรู้ พยาบาลจึงมีบทบาทสำคัญในการส่งเสริมสุขภาพของเด็ก โดยการส่งเสริมให้ครอบครัวและชุมชนมีความรู้และเข้ามามีบทบาทในการส่งเสริมสุขภาพในเด็กทั้งด้านร่างกาย จิตใจ อารมณ์และสังคม เพื่อป้องกันผลกระทบต่าง ๆ ที่จะเกิดขึ้นในอนาคต
