NURSING STUDENTS' LEARNING STYLES IN SCHOOL OF NURSING, SHINAWATRA UNIVERSITY

The purpose of this descriptive study was to examine learning style preferences of nursing students from each of the four-year levels of school of nursing, Shinawatra University. The samples included 278 nursing students. The instrument for collecting data was a five- Likert scale from Grasha and Riechmann’s questionnaire that assessed learning style preferences on six dimensions, including independence, avoidance, collaboration, dependence, competitiveness, and participation style. The reliability coefficients of .89. Analyzed by descriptive statistics, mean, standard deviation, and compared learning styles by concept of Grasha-Riechmann (Grasha, 2002)
The results revealed that nursing students had high level of learning style in collaboration learning style (Mean=3.97, S.D.=.97) and had medium level of learning styles in dependent learning style (Mean=3.91, S.D.=1.13), participant learning style (Mean=3.72, S.D.=1.10), independent learning style (Mean=3.47, S.D.=1.06), competitive learning style (Mean=2.73, S.D.=1.32), avoidant learning style (Mean=2.64, S.D.=1.29), respectively.
