Factors Related to Organizational Commitment and Work Life Balance among Staffs in Khao Khitchakut Hospital, Chanthaburi Province

Abstract

This correlational research aimed to examine the relationships between work happiness, organizational commitment, and work life balance among staffs. The samples consisted of 111 staffs in Khao Khitchakut Hospital, Chanthaburi Province. The research instrument was a five-part survey form of HAPPINOMETER, comprised personal characteristics, work characteristics, work happiness, organizational commitment, and work life balance with the reliability of .91, .82, and .80, respectively. Data were collected from June to July, 2017. Statistics used for data analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson’s product moment correlation.


The research results revealed that the staffs had overall mean score of work happiness at a happy level (= 67.37, SD = 7.09), as well as the mean score of organizational commitment and the overall mean score of work life balance were at the high level (= 67.34, SD = 11.25 and= 73.24, SD = 12.15, respectively). The overall work happiness was positively statistically significant related to organizational commitment and work life balance (r = .672, p < .01 and r = .476, p < .01, respectively).


This research suggested that the hospital administrators should encourage and promote work happiness for staffs. Moreover, the head of department or supervisors should be recognized in the importance of work happiness, organizational commitment, and work life balance among staffs in order to get more effective administration.
