Quality of Work Life of Personnel in Bangkhla Hospital, Chachoengsao Province

Abstract

This cross-sectional survey research aimed to examine the level of quality of work life and the relationship between the personal factors and the quality of work life of personnel. Subjects consisted of 104 personnel in Bangkhla hospital, Chachoengsao province. The research instrument was a questionnaire of quality of work life of personnel with the reliability of .96. Data were collected from April to August, 2014. Statistics used for data analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Chi-square test, and Pearson’s product moment correlation.

Results revealed that 1) the overall average score of quality of work life was at a moderate level, and 2) the personal factors statistically significant related to the dimension of quality of work life were as follows—sex was related to the opportunity to develop the skills (c² = 6.090, p < .05), marital status was related to the well and safety environment (c² = 8.900, p < .05), the opportunity to develop the skills (c² = 6.210, p < .05), and work-life balance as a whole (c² = 7.740, p < .05), education was related to the fair and adequate remuneration (c² = 9.880, p < .01). Additionally, it was found that age and income had statistically significant negative relationship with the organizational democratic or justice process (r = -.220, p < .05 and r = -.242, p < .05, respectively), and income had statistically significant positive relationship with the fair and adequate remuneration (r = .305, p < .01).

This study suggested that the undertakers in hospital should investigate the safety risks in workplace, so as problems should be directly and appropriately solved.
