Abstract

Septicemia Syndrome is a challenge for the patient care system because it is the leading cause of dead in patient who admitted to Hospital. This study was a quasi – experimental research. The purpose of this study was to compare knowledge and ability of registered nurse to care for septicemia syndrome patients before and after receiving a capability-strengthening program for caring for sepsis patients. System theory is a conceptual framework in this research. The sample consisted of 30 registered nurse who had experience as a team leader, these nurses were trained according to a capability-strengthening program for caring for sepsis patients as follow 1) Patient care situations were analyzed by registered nurse 2) Knowledge and capability development for registered nurse and septicemia syndrome nursing process 3) Evaluation of output and outcome. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, and a Paired simple t-test.

The results showed that nurses' knowledge and capabilities scores significantly improved after receiving a capability-strengthening program for caring for sepsis patients (p<0.05). This research has led to the process of nursing care for septicemia syndrome patients and as a result, the quality system of care for patients with septicemia syndrome is better. The researchers recommend conducting a comparative study of patient care outcomes for bloodstream infections before and after implementation of the program, compared with routine nursing practice. Future research should also assess nurses’ satisfaction with a capability-strengthening program caring for sepsis patients.
