The program was developed based on the health literacy framework of Don Nutbeam. The study samples consisted of 70 patients aged 20-59 years old who were diagnosed with hypertension for at least 3 months and were randomly assigned into an experimental group and a control group with 35 each. The experimental group received an 8-week health literacy program while the control group received routine care. Data was collected from February to April 2024 using questionnaires regarding general information and stroke prevention behaviors. The difference in mean scores of stroke prevention behaviors between the experimental and control groups was analyzed using the Independent t-test. The difference in mean scores of stroke prevention behaviors before and after receiving the program in the experimental and control groups was analyzed using the Paired t-test.

The study found that the experimental group had significantly higher stroke prevention behaviors scores than the control group (p<.05). The stroke prevention behavior scores of working-age hypertensive patients in the experimental group before and after receiving the program were significantly different (p<.05).

The results of this study revealed that the health literacy enhancement program could be applied to change the behavior of working-age hypertensive patients who are at risk of cerebrovascular disease and presented to administrators to plan and implement policies for the care of hypertensive patients to prevent stroke more effectively.
Chamaiporn Sukmas Juntima Rerkluenrit Yupa Jewpattanakul Copyright (c) 2025 Thai Public Health Nurses Association https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-04-28 2025-04-28 39 1 17 35 Factors Related to the Adaptation of Community Health Nurses at Health Service Center of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration during the COVID-19 https://he01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/phn/article/view/271194
This cross-sectional descriptive research aimed to study the adaptation and predictive factors on the adaptation of community health nurses at the Health Service Center of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration in the COVID-19 outbreak situation. Roy’s adaptation model was used as a conceptual framework. The samples were 342 community health nurses aged 23-60 years of the Health Service Center of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. Data was collected between February to May 2023 using Likert scale questionnaires with content validity index between 0.9-1.0 and the reliability between 0.68-0.83. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression analysis.

The result showed that community health nurses had a moderate level of adaptation (Mean=50, SD=7.15). Factors predicting the adaptation of community health nurses include resilience, COVID-19 outbreak, adverse effects of COVID-19 infection, and age respectively. All factors together can predict the adaptation of community health nurses by 30.2 % (Adjusted R2=.302). The result of this research recommends that community health nurses should be promoted in resilience for appropriate adaptation.
Punrawee Joradol Panan Pichayapinyo Sunee Lagampan Punyarat Lapvongwatana Copyright (c) 2025 Thai Public Health Nurses Association https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-04-28 2025-04-28 39 1 36 56 Decision-making factors of older adults with end stage renal disease toward renal placement therapy https://he01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/phn/article/view/277112
This mixed methods research was aimed to study factors related to decision-making experience of renal placement therapy among elders with end stage renal disease. The participants in this study were 82 elders with end stage renal disease receiving renal placement therapy. Data were collected using in-depth interviews, perception of illnesses questionnaire and perceive of social support questionnaire. Descriptive statistic and Pearson’s product-moment correlation coefficient were used to analyze data. The content analysis was applied to analyze qualitative data.

Study revealed that Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) had a statistically significant positive association with age (r=0.245, p ≤ 0.01). Perception of illnesses had a relationship with education level and perceive of social support (r= 0.226, 0.347, p ≤ 0.05). Perceive of social support had a statistically significant relationship with education level (r= 0.260, p ≤ 0.05) and age (r= -0.225, p ≤ 0.05). Elders’ decision-making experience of renal placement therapy for end stage renal disease were categorized into three main aspects: 1). Experiences before making decision consisted of two sub-themes: the perception of seriously ill, close to death, and had no other options; and prolonging one's life, 2) Decision- making factors toward renal replacement therapy consisted of two sub-themes: the best available treatment and the decision time depends on many factors, and 3) Experiences after decision making. Patients experience stress after renal replacement therapy due to costs and lifestyle changes.

The findings of this study provided a vivid and better understanding of first decision-making experience of renal placement therapy from elders with end stage renal disease perspectives. This information is crucial for planning interventions relevant to elders’ perspective as well as to ease up the difficulty time according to the renal replacement therapy plan.
Wilaipun Somboontanont Natma Thongterethum Pensiri Srisuntorn Ladda Sanseha Suchai Sritippayawan Copyright (c) 2025 Thai Public Health Nurses Association https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-04-28 2025-04-28 39 1 57 75 The Development of a multiple-health promoting program to prevent chronic non-communicable diseases in the working- age group: Case study of Ban Lan Khoi https://he01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/phn/article/view/267676
This action research aimed to examine the health behavior situation, develop a multi-health promotion program, and evaluate the effectiveness of multi-health promotion program for prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) among working-age groups in the community. In addition, body mass index, waist circumference, and diastolic blood pressure were significantly different after receiving the program (t = 3.24, 3.13 and 2.22 respectively). However, there were no differences in systolic blood pressure and blood sugar levels after receiving the program.

This multi-health promoting program in preventing non-communicable diseases could be used to promote health pattern and to change health behaviors in order to prevent chronic non-communicable diseases in the working-age population in the community.
Sopida Sukjarung Ruhana Yacharat Nadeeyah Bersa Copyright (c) 2025 Thai Public Health Nurses Association https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-04-28 2025-04-28 39 1 76 92 Role of Community Nurses in Sarcopenia Screening and Prevention for Community-Dwelling Older Adults https://he01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/phn/article/view/277022
Sarcopenia is a significant concern among community-dwelling older adults due to its age-related progressive nature, leading to an increased risk of falls and injuries, functional decline, and ultimately dependency. This article aims to enhance community nurses' understanding of primary sarcopenia, focusing on the age-related pathophysiology and modifiable behavioral risk factors. Furthermore, this article presents the role of community nurses in screening older adults with possible sarcopenia for referral to hospitals for further diagnosis and treatment. It also discusses the application of the Health Belief Model in assisting older adults to modify risky behaviors, with the goal of preventing sarcopenia in high-risk older adults with possible sarcopenia. This proactive approach seeks to delay age-related muscle deterioration, enabling older adults in the community to live independently, avoid burdening their families and caregivers, and maintain a good quality of life. Consequently, this approach contributes to the quality indicators of elderly care provided by community and home care nurses.
Wilaipun Somboontanont Supavadee Thiengtham Copyright (c) 2025 Thai Public Health Nurses Association https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-04-28 2025-04-28 39 1 93 113
