Roles of Nurse Practitioners in the Prevention and Control of the Epidemic of Coronavirus Disease 2019 in Community

The epidemic of coronavirus disease 2019 is an emergency that extreme impact on health, lifestyles, and socioeconomic status of worldwide society. Nurse practitioners are an important group of health personnel in the prevention and control of coronavirus disease 2019 in the community. In the crisis, nurse practitioners take their roles according to prevention levels. Primary prevention, nurse practitioners act as educators, energizers, creative problem solvers, influencers, communicators. Secondary prevention, nurse practitioners act as decision-makers, risk-takers, consultants, care providers, care managers, and collaborators. Tertiary prevention, nurse practitioners act as change agents and advocators for clients and populations. However, nurse practitioners should improve their roles and competencies to the advanced nurse practitioners for coronavirus 2019 prevention and control that might be more severe and re-emerging in the future.
