Nurses’ Communication Techniques for Handling with Patients in Palliative Care

Abstract
Communicating with end-of-life care patients is one of the significant competencies of nurses in palliative care since good communication is an important tool for efficient treatment. In this regard, the nurse-patient communication can effectively bring about information about the illness along with the patients’ feeling toward their own physical conditions that help patients and their families adapt to the existing illnesses and to be able to behave appropriately with the disease in order to reduce suffering in order to provide the best quality of life of the patients as possible as they need. On one hand, communicating with patients is an independent role that nurses can do. On the other hand, ineffective communication can become an obstacle to hospice care.
The purpose of this article, thus, is to provide nurses with guidelines for talking to end-of-life patients and their families by using communication techniques in order to know how to effectively and beneficially handle with late-stage patients.
