Efficiency of Glove Collection for Practicing Intravenous in Second Year Nursing Student Princess of Naradhiwas University

Abstract

This study aimed to develop the intravenous access gloves package and examine by comparing the mean score of effective of utility between usage of the current package for intravenous access simulator and the developed intravenous access gloves package. The participants were selected by a convenience sampling technique, a total 22 second year nursing student who enrolled for the fundamental nursing course in the academic year 2016 at faculty of nursing, Princess of Naradhiwas University were recruited for participating in this study. The data were collected by research instruments including the developed intravenous access gloves package and the efficiency of using intravenous gloves package questionnaire. A content validity and internal consistency reliability of the instruments was tested by 3 experts. The CVI was 0.95 and Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was 0.80, indicating a good level of content validity and reliability, respectively. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and the mean scores were compared by Paired T-test.

The results showed that the mean score of efficiency of using the current package for intravenous access simulator was at a moderate level ( = 46.14, S.D. = 7.59) while the efficiency of using the developed intravenous access gloves package was at a very good level ( = 64.00, S.D. = 6.32). When comparing the efficiency of using between the current package and the developed package for intravenous access, we found that the developed intravenous access gloves had a statistically significant (p-value = .001) higher mean score than the current package for intravenous access simulator.
