Abstract

This study is a quasi-experimental design aimed at 1) comparing the knowledge scores regarding pre-operative behavior for kidney transplantation between the group that received pre-operative preparation (experimental group) and the group that received standard nursing care (control group).2) Compare the level of anxiety between the group that received pre-operative preparation (experimental group) and the group that received standard nursing care (control group).3) Compare the level of satisfaction with the quality of service between the group that received pre-operative preparation (experimental group) and the group that received standard nursing care (control group). The sample was selectively chosen based on predetermined criteria and voluntarily participated in the study, consisting of 18 individuals. The study was conducted using the PDSA cycle quality process in four stages: Stage 1 - Analyze the situation and problems within the organization; Stage 2 - Develop a health literacy enhancement model based on Sorensen's concept; Stage 3 - Test and refine the model; Stage 4 - Evaluate effectiveness. The study tools were divided into two categories:1) The research tools used include a pre-operative preparation program for kidney transplantation from brain-dead donors of end-stage chronic kidney disease patients, which consists of a pre-operative kidney transplantation guideline and a video.2) The tools used for data collection are personal information recording forms, anxiety and service quality satisfaction measurement tools before surgery. Descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation were used to compare knowledge about pre-surgery preparation, anxiety, and satisfaction before and after receiving information, using the Independent Sample T-test.
Context: 2) The tools used for data collection are personal information recording forms, anxiety and satisfaction level measurement tools for pre-operative service quality, using frequency statistics, percentages, means, and standard deviations. The comparison of knowledge about pre-operative preparation, anxiety, and satisfaction before and after receiving information was conducted using Independent Sample T-test statistics. The study results showed that the outcomes of the pre-operative preparation program on the knowledge, anxiety, and satisfaction with the quality of service for patients with end-stage chronic kidney disease undergoing kidney transplantation indicated that the sample group gained knowledge about pre-operative preparation, with the average post-program score being 12.36, which was higher than the pre-program score of 9.00, and there was a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05).The study results showed that the outcomes of the preoperative preparation program on knowledge, anxiety, and satisfaction with the quality of service for patients with end-stage chronic kidney disease undergoing kidney transplantation indicated that the sample group gained knowledge about preoperative preparation, with an average post-program score of 12.36, which was higher than the pre-program score of 9.00, and there was a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05).The anxiety towards anesthetic procedures and pre-operative preparations after using the program significantly decreased compared to before using the program (p < 0.05).And the satisfaction with the quality of service after using the program was significantly higher than before using the program (p < 0.05).The preoperative preparation program for knowledge, anxiety, and satisfaction with the quality of service for end-stage chronic kidney disease patients undergoing kidney transplantation should be continuously implemented to prepare patients before undergoing kidney transplantation.
