Abstract

This quasi-experimental research, one group pre-posttest design, aimed to study 1) the effects of program for Prevention of Unplanned Extubation on behavior of nurses to prevent Unplanned Extubation in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). 2) comparison of the incidence of Unplanned Extubation occurred before and after the implementation of prevention program of Unplanned Extubation in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). The sampling group was 16 nurses, patients who admitted in pediatric intensive care unit. Between January - May 2023, the research instruments were program for Prevention of Unplanned Extubation. The data were analyzed by frequency distribution, percentage and t-test. Results found that after the experiment: 1) The mean score on nurses their behaviors was statistically significant higher than before experiment from 44.53 to 80.33 points. 2) The incidence of Unplanned Extubation was decreased from 12.10 to 7.85 per 1,000 days of ventilation using.
